Firmware
Adds support for the Panasonic DMW-DMS1 microphone and compatibility with LUMIX Flow app version 1.5 and later, plus general stability improvements; earlier releases added far more substantial recording capability — 12-bit RAW video output over HDMI to Blackmagic Video Assist (Blackmagic RAW) and Atomos NINJA V/V+ (Apple ProRes RAW) external recorders (v2.0, June 2023), a proxy-recording function for simultaneous low-bitrate capture (v3.0, April 2024), and the MP4(Lite) recording format at 3.8K 29.97p/25.00p (v3.2, January 2025), later expanded with additional MP4(Lite) options and a 17:9 proxy aspect ratio (v3.4, October 2025). No recording format was added in the current release.
Expands MP4(Lite) with additional recording options and adds a 17:9 proxy-video aspect ratio; also adds a video shutter-speed limiter and extends the usable aperture range to F45-F90.
Adds the MP4(Lite) recording format: 3840x2560 (3.8K), 10-bit 4:2:0 HEVC at 50 Mbps, 29.97p (NTSC)/25.00p (PAL), 3:2 aspect ratio, AAC 2ch audio, intended for smartphone-app editing workflows (confirmed on the sibling DC-S5M2X online manual, page 0195, which documents the same MP4(Lite) spec).
Adds 12-bit RAW video output over HDMI: Blackmagic RAW to Blackmagic Video Assist recorders and Apple ProRes RAW to Atomos NINJA V+/V recorders, plus Live View Composite and Video Repair functions and V-Log image-quality improvements.

Panasonic Photography & Hybrid Cameras
Panasonic’s contributions to digital photography have been defined by innovation and collaboration. As an early pioneer in mirrorless camera design, Panasonic helped establish the Micro Four Thirds standard with Olympus, creating a compact, interchangeable-lens system that balanced image quality with portability. This approach resonated strongly with travel, documentary, and video-oriented photographers who sought lightweight equipment without compromising control or creative flexibility.
Over time, Panasonic expanded its focus to include full-frame mirrorless systems through its L-Mount alliance with Leica and Sigma. These cameras combine robust video capabilities with refined still-photo performance, reflecting Panasonic’s hybrid philosophy that bridges photography and cinematography. Features such as high-resolution sensors, advanced image stabilization, and sophisticated autofocus have positioned Panasonic as a strong option for creators who navigate both visual disciplines.
Panasonic’s design philosophy emphasizes usability and reliability across environments. The company’s cameras are known for intuitive controls, durable builds, and consistent color reproduction, characteristics that have made them appealing for both fieldwork and studio photography. By blending practical ergonomics with advanced digital imaging technology, Panasonic continues to contribute to the ongoing convergence of photographic and video production tools.
