Atlas Lens Co.
Atlas Lens Co. is an American maker of anamorphic cinema lenses based in Glendale, California, where it designs and manufactures its lenses and runs a demonstration space. Lead designer Forrest Schultz and cinematographer Dan Kanes founded the company in 2016, working from a garage with the goal of designing an anamorphic lens from the ground up at a lower cost than existing professional anamorphics.
The company showed its first lens, a 65mm Orion Series prototype, at NAB 2017. The Orion Series are 2x anamorphic primes, first offered with T2 apertures in PL and Canon EF mounts; the company also makes a Silver Edition of the Orion Series.
In September 2022 Atlas announced the Mercury Series, full-frame 1.5x front anamorphic primes that are smaller and lighter than the Orions, and it has since added further focal lengths, including a 27mm in 2025. Its Kaizen Series of 1.5x anamorphics covers 44 x 33mm sensors. Atlas also sells lens accessories and certified pre-owned lenses.
