Exascend

Exascend is a Taiwanese company that designs solid-state drives, memory cards, DRAM modules and embedded flash storage for industrial, automotive, enterprise and cinema use. Its global headquarters is in Xinyi District, Taipei, with offices in Sunnyvale, California; Eindhoven, the Netherlands; Tokyo; and Beijing. The company gives 2016 as its founding year, and its name combines "exabyte" and "ascend."

Trade press reports that the business began in 2006 as Memoright and took the Exascend name after a management buyout; Frank Chen, its founder and CEO, has led it since 2016, and its investors have included Walden International and IPV Capital. Exascend develops its own hardware and firmware and works with NAND flash and controller suppliers. Its TAA-compliant industrial and enterprise SSDs are assembled and tested in Taiwan, and its SSDs gained IATF 16949 automotive certification in 2022.

For cinema, Exascend makes CFexpress, CFast, SD and microSD cards, portable SSDs and card readers. Its Archon CFast cards were RED-approved for the KOMODO in 2021, and in April 2022 it launched Nitro, which it described as the first VPG400-certified CFexpress Type B card.
