Lexar Co., Ltd.
Lexar is a brand of flash memory products: memory cards, card readers, USB flash drives, solid-state drives and DRAM modules. It began in California in 1996 as a spin-off from Cirrus Logic, and Micron Technology acquired the company in 2006.
In June 2017 Micron announced that it would end its Lexar retail removable-storage business. On August 31, 2017, Shenzhen Longsys Electronics Co., Ltd., a Chinese flash memory company founded in 1999, acquired the Lexar brand and trademark, and set up Lexar International in San Jose, California, for the United States and Canada and Lexar Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong for Asia. Longsys runs Lexar as its consumer brand alongside FORESEE for business customers; it listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2022 and on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in September 2026.
Lexar has long made CompactFlash and SD cards for photography. Its own timeline lists 256 GB CompactFlash and SDXC UHS-I cards in 2013 and a 1 TB microSD Express card in 2025, and in January 2019 it introduced the first SD card with a capacity of 1 TB.
