SHAPE
SHAPE wlb Inc.
SHAPE wlb Inc. is a Canadian company in Chambly, Québec, that designs and makes camera and grip accessories for film, television and content production. Its range includes camera cages, rigs and shoulder mounts for Canon, Sony, Panasonic, ARRI, RED and Blackmagic cameras, matte boxes, follow focus systems, monitor cages, camera handles, light stands, camera carts, batteries and chargers. SHAPE uses a patented red push button as a signature feature of its products.
Mylène Girard and Charles Vallières, a couple who had each worked in the film industry for more than 15 years — she as a camera assistant, he running art departments for set building and special effects — founded SHAPE in 2007, starting out in the family's house shed. In 2010, when the company was based in Saint-Hubert, Québec, with Girard as chief executive, it won VoirGRAND.tv, a Québec program for young entrepreneurs; at the time the company also offered repair and maintenance services for camera equipment.
