SmallHD

SmallHD LLC is an American company that designs and makes monitors for film and video production, from 5-inch on-camera displays to 32-inch 4K reference monitors, which run its own PageOS software. Wes Phillips and Dale Backus founded it in North Carolina in 2009. It is now headquartered in Irvine, California, with other sites in North Carolina, London and Costa Rica.

Before SmallHD, the founders made commercials for local businesses; the DP6 field monitor was the company's first widely sold product. The Vitec Group plc acquired SmallHD in December 2014 for an initial $4.6 million, with up to $25.4 million more tied to profit targets. Vitec renamed itself Videndum plc in 2022.

SmallHD is part of Videndum's Creative Solutions division with Teradek and Wooden Camera. The three brands share a showroom in Burbank, California, and SmallHD develops wireless monitoring products with Teradek and Wooden Camera.
