Urth
Gobe Corp Pty Ltd
Urth is an Australian maker of photography accessories, including lens filters, lens mount adapters, camera straps and camera bags, and sells framed fine art prints. The brand belongs to Gobe Corp Pty Ltd, a private company registered in Australia in 2013 and headquartered in Byron Bay, New South Wales. Its founders, Christian Gibson, Minnie Piccardo and a third co-founder named Chris, started the business under the name Gobe, and the company still trades under that registered name.
The founders changed the brand to Urth because the Gobe trademark limited the company to certain product classes; the Urth business name was registered in Australia in February 2021. In Australia the company uses the Urth trademark under license from Gobe Corp UK Ltd.
The company funds tree planting with every product sold, through its partner Eden Reforestation Projects, in Haiti, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mozambique and Nepal, and has set a goal of planting one billion trees by 2032. It says it removed plastics from its packaging and commissioned an independent life cycle analysis of its products.
