Wise

Wise Advanced Co., Ltd. is a Taiwanese maker of memory cards, card readers and solid-state drives for cameras, based in Taipei. The company dates itself to 1992. In its first decade it designed interface adapters and USB chips for external hard drives and optical drives, and from 2003 it made CitiDISK recording systems for FireWire DV and, later, HDV camcorders.

In 2000 Wise invested in its own SMT factory in Taiwan, formerly Sony's exclusive production line there, and the company holds Sony Green Partner certification. It also builds products under OEM arrangements for other manufacturers. Wise joined the CompactFlash Association in 2013 and became an executive member in 2022, the year of its 30th anniversary.

Wise made a proprietary S2 ExpressCard for Sony ENG cameras in 2010 and introduced CFast 2.0 cards, approved by Blackmagic Design, in 2014. Its timeline lists the first 512 GB CFast 2.0 card in 2015, Hasselblad approval of its CFast 2.0 and SDXC cards in 2018, a portable SSD certified for Blackmagic's URSA Mini Pro G2 and Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K in 2019, CFexpress Type B cards from 2020, and CFexpress 4.0 Type A and Type B cards in 2024.
