Overview

The ARRI Master Anamorphic 50mm T1.9 Cinema Lens with PL-Mount is a standard anamorphic prime that covers Super 35 mm sensors. A standard focal length sees close to natural human perspective, which suits dialogue and coverage where the framing should not draw attention to itself. Its 2x squeeze produces a 2.66:1 field of view on a 4:3 sensor, commonly cropped to 2.39:1 for delivery. This is the classic scope format and carries the most pronounced anamorphic character. A fast T1.9 aperture lets camera operators separate subjects from their backgrounds or get the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments, and the lens closes to T22. It uses a PL-Mount with manual focus. ARRI LDS lens data passes through the mount, recording focus, iris, and zoom positions alongside the image. The focus barrel is available in either imperial or metric markings.

Features

Key Features

Standard Super 35 mm Coverage

The lens covers Super 35 mm sensors, projecting a 33.5 mm image circle. A standard field of view sits near natural perspective, the neutral option for dialogue and everyday coverage where framing should not announce itself.

2x Anamorphic Squeeze

A 2x squeeze reaches 2.66:1 from a 4:3 sensor, commonly cropped to 2.39:1 for delivery. This is the classic scope format and carries the most pronounced anamorphic character — the widest flares, the most oval bokeh — which is exactly why many productions choose it.

T1.9 Maximum Aperture

At T1.9 the lens separates subjects cleanly from their backgrounds and gets the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments. It closes to T22.

Imperial or Metric Focus Scale

The lens ships with either an imperial or a metric focus barrel. The scale is fixed at purchase rather than switchable, so a rental order or a set build has to specify which one is needed.

ARRI LDS Lens Data

Lens Data System contacts report focus, iris, and zoom positions to the camera, recording them alongside the image. Post and VFX read those positions back rather than reconstructing them from the footage.

Mount & Rig Integration

PL-Mount

The lens mounts via PL-Mount, fitting industry-standard cinema cameras and adapting to most modern cinema and hybrid bodies.

0.8-Pitch Cine Gears

The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.

95mm Front Diameter

The front element measures 95mm, which fits a compact matte box directly and steps up to a 114 mm clamp with an adapter ring. Matte box fit follows from this measurement rather than from the filter thread, since the clamp grips the outside of the barrel.
