Overview
The ARRI Signature Zoom 65-300mm T2.8 with 1.7x Extender Cinema Lens and LPL-Mount is a telephoto spherical zoom that covers Vista Vision sensors. Telephoto focal lengths compress perspective and throw backgrounds well out of focus, letting camera operators isolate a subject from a busy environment or reach action at a distance. Its 4.6x zoom range allows camera operators to reframe without repositioning the camera, and a constant T2.8 aperture holds exposure steady through the zoom. A fast T2.8 aperture lets camera operators separate subjects from their backgrounds or get the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments. It uses an LPL-Mount with manual focus. ARRI LDS-2 lens data passes through the mount, recording focus, iris, and zoom positions alongside the image. The focus barrel is available in either imperial or metric markings.
Features
Key Features
Telephoto Vista Vision Coverage
The lens covers Vista Vision sensors, projecting a 46 mm image circle. A telephoto field of view compresses distance and lifts a subject off its background, suiting clean singles and action reached from further back.
T2.8 Maximum Aperture
At T2.8 the lens separates subjects cleanly from their backgrounds and gets the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments.
Imperial or Metric Focus Scale
The lens ships with either an imperial or a metric focus barrel. The scale is fixed at purchase rather than switchable, so a rental order or a set build has to specify which one is needed.
ARRI LDS-2 Lens Data
LDS-2 reports focus, iris, and zoom positions at higher resolution and faster than the original system, carrying the data over the mount without separate LDS contacts. Post and VFX read those positions back rather than reconstructing them from the footage.
Optical Design
4.6x Zoom Range
The 65-300mm range covers 4.6x without a lens change, holding a constant T2.8 through the zoom. Reframing happens on the barrel, letting one operator move between a wide and a tight shot inside a single take.
Focus & Handling
1.8 m Minimum Focus
Mount & Rig Integration
LPL-Mount
The lens mounts via LPL-Mount, fitting industry-standard cinema cameras and adapting to most modern cinema and hybrid bodies.
0.8-Pitch Cine Gears
The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.
156mm Front Diameter
The front element measures 156mm, which calls for a large-format matte box, or a clamp adapter sized to it. Matte box fit follows from this measurement rather than from the filter thread, since the clamp grips the outside of the barrel.
