Overview

The Canon CINE-SERVO 17-120mm T2.95-3.9 Cinema Lens with RF-Mount is an all-in-one spherical zoom that covers Super 35 mm sensors. An all-in-one range covers wide through telephoto on one lens, which suits documentary and run-and-gun work where there is no time to change glass. The lens opens to T2.95 and closes to T22. It uses an RF-Mount with manual focus. Standard electronic contacts pass aperture and focus information between the lens and the camera body. The focus barrel is marked in feet.

Features

Key Features

All-in-One Super 35 mm Coverage

The lens covers Super 35 mm sensors, projecting a 31.7 mm image circle. A range spanning wide through telephoto covers a scene without a lens change, which documentary and run-and-gun shooting depend on.

T2.95 Maximum Aperture

The lens opens to T2.95 and closes to T22, a moderate maximum aperture suited to well-lit sets and to work that wants deeper depth of field.

Imperial Focus Scale

Distance marks are engraved in feet. Matching scale units across a lens set matters on a crew that calls distances aloud, and mixing feet with meters mid-set invites errors.

Electronic Contacts

Contacts in the mount pass aperture and focus information between lens and body. The camera records those settings into metadata and can drive the iris electronically where the body supports it.

Focus & Handling

2.8 ft Minimum Focus

Mount & Rig Integration

0.8-Pitch Cine Gears

The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.

114mm Front Diameter

The front element measures 114mm, which matches the 114 mm standard most matte boxes clamp to directly. Matte box fit follows from this measurement rather than from the filter thread, since the clamp grips the outside of the barrel.

112.5mm Filter Thread

The front accepts 112.5mm screw-in filters behind a 114mm front element. A matte box clamps to the outside diameter instead, which is what most cine setups use to avoid re-threading filters between lenses.
