Overview

The Cooke Anamorphic/i Full Frame Plus 85mm T2.8 Macro Cinema Lens with PL-Mount is a telephoto anamorphic prime that covers Vista Vision sensors. Telephoto focal lengths compress perspective and throw backgrounds well out of focus, letting camera operators isolate a subject from a busy environment or reach action at a distance. Its 1.8x squeeze produces a 2.40:1 field of view on a 4:3 sensor, landing on the scope ratio without a crop. Anamorphic character approaches that of a 2x. Its macro design captures fine detail and extreme close-ups at 1:1 magnification without switching lenses, focusing to 55 cm. A fast T2.8 aperture lets camera operators separate subjects from their backgrounds or get the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments, and the lens closes to T22. It uses a PL-Mount with manual focus. Cooke /i metadata passes through the mount for post and VFX workflows.

Key Features

270° Focus Throw

Its 270° focus throw sits in the standard range for cine glass, spreading distance marks far enough apart for repeatable pulls without making a full rack slow.

Telephoto Vista Vision Coverage

The lens covers Vista Vision sensors, projecting a 46.3 mm image circle. A telephoto field of view compresses distance and lifts a subject off its background, suiting clean singles and action reached from further back.

1.8x Anamorphic Squeeze

A 1.8x squeeze reaches 2.40:1 from a 4:3 sensor, landing on the scope ratio without a crop. Anamorphic character approaches that of a 2x.

T2.8 Maximum Aperture

At T2.8 the lens separates subjects cleanly from their backgrounds and gets the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments. It closes to T22.

Macro Design

Focusing to 1:1 at 55 cm, the lens fills the frame with small subjects — insert shots, product detail, texture — without a diopter or extension tube. Depth of field at that range is measured in millimeters, and focus is usually set by moving the camera rather than the barrel.

Cooke /i Metadata

The lens reports focus distance, aperture, focal length, and serial number to the camera frame by frame. That metadata travels with the footage into post, where VFX can match a CG camera to the real one instead of measuring the set afterwards.

Mount & Rig Integration

PL-Mount

The lens mounts via PL-Mount, fitting industry-standard cinema cameras and adapting to most modern cinema and hybrid bodies.

0.8-Pitch Cine Gears

The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.

136mm Front Diameter

The front element measures 136mm, which calls for a large-format matte box, or a clamp adapter sized to it. Matte box fit follows from this measurement rather than from the filter thread, since the clamp grips the outside of the barrel.
