Cooke Varotal/i 30-95mm T2.9 Cinema Lens with PL-Mount

Overview
The Cooke Varotal/i 30-95mm T2.9 Cinema Lens with PL-Mount is an all-in-one spherical zoom that covers Full Frame sensors. An all-in-one range covers wide through telephoto on one lens, which suits documentary and run-and-gun work where there is no time to change glass. Its 3.2x zoom range allows camera operators to reframe without repositioning the camera, and a constant T2.9 aperture holds exposure steady through the zoom. A fast T2.9 aperture lets camera operators separate subjects from their backgrounds or get the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments, and the lens closes to T22. It uses a PL-Mount with manual focus. Cooke /i metadata passes through the mount for post and VFX workflows.
Features
Key Features
All-in-One Full Frame Coverage
The lens covers Full Frame sensors. A range spanning wide through telephoto covers a scene without a lens change, which documentary and run-and-gun shooting depend on.
T2.9 Maximum Aperture
At T2.9 the lens separates subjects cleanly from their backgrounds and gets the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments. It closes to T22.
280° Focus Throw
Its 280° focus throw sits in the standard range for cine glass, spreading distance marks far enough apart for repeatable pulls without making a full rack slow.
Cooke /i Metadata
The lens reports focus distance, aperture, focal length, and serial number to the camera frame by frame. That metadata travels with the footage into post, where VFX can match a CG camera to the real one instead of measuring the set afterwards.
Optical Design
3.2x Zoom Range
The 30-95mm range covers 3.2x without a lens change, holding a constant T2.9 through the zoom. Reframing happens on the barrel, letting one operator move between a wide and a tight shot inside a single take.
Focus & Handling
80 cm Minimum Focus
Mount & Rig Integration
PL-Mount
The lens mounts via PL-Mount, fitting industry-standard cinema cameras and adapting to most modern cinema and hybrid bodies.
0.8-Pitch Cine Gears
The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.
114mm Front Diameter
The front element measures 114mm, which matches the 114 mm standard most matte boxes clamp to directly. Matte box fit follows from this measurement rather than from the filter thread, since the clamp grips the outside of the barrel.
