Overview

The Sigma High-Speed Zoom 18-35mm T2 Cinema Lens with EF-Mount is a wide-angle spherical zoom that covers Super 35 mm sensors. Wide-angle coverage takes in more of a location than the eye does, which suits establishing shots, landscapes, and interiors where the space carries the scene. Its 1.94x zoom range allows camera operators to reframe without repositioning the camera, and a constant T2 aperture holds exposure steady through the zoom. A fast T2 aperture lets camera operators separate subjects from their backgrounds or get the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments, and the lens closes to T16. It uses an EF-Mount with manual focus. Standard electronic contacts pass aperture and focus information between the lens and the camera body. The focus barrel is available in either imperial or metric markings.

Key Features

Wide Super 35 mm Coverage

The lens covers Super 35 mm sensors, projecting a 28.4 mm image circle. A wide-angle field of view holds a subject and its surroundings in one frame, which is what establishing shots, interiors, and landscape work call for.

T2 Maximum Aperture

At T2 the lens separates subjects cleanly from their backgrounds and gets the most out of available lighting when filming in darker environments. It closes to T16.

Imperial or Metric Focus Scale

The lens ships with either an imperial or a metric focus barrel. The scale is fixed at purchase rather than switchable, so a rental order or a set build has to specify which one is needed.

Service-Interchangeable Mount

The mount can be changed, but only at a service center rather than on the bench, swapping EF-Mount for E-Mount. The swap is a scheduled job with turnaround attached, which suits a permanent change of system rather than moving between bodies on a shoot.

Electronic Contacts

Contacts in the mount pass aperture and focus information between lens and body. The camera records those settings into metadata and can drive the iris electronically where the body supports it.

Optical Design

1.94x Zoom Range

The 18-35mm range covers 1.94x without a lens change, holding a constant T2 through the zoom. Reframing happens on the barrel, letting one operator move between a wide and a tight shot inside a single take.

Mount & Rig Integration

EF-Mount

The lens mounts via EF-Mount, designed for DSLR bodies and adapting cleanly onto most mirrorless systems, where the longer flange distance leaves room for a simple adapter without corrective optics.

0.8-Pitch Cine Gears

The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.

82mm Filter Thread

The front accepts 82mm screw-in filters behind a 95mm front element. A matte box clamps to the outside diameter instead, which is what most cine setups use to avoid re-threading filters between lenses.
