Overview

The Leitz Summilux-C 50mm T1.4 Cinema Lens with PL-Mount is a telephoto spherical prime that covers Super 35 mm sensors. Telephoto focal lengths compress perspective and throw backgrounds well out of focus, letting camera operators isolate a subject from a busy environment or reach action at a distance. A T1.4 maximum aperture puts this among the fastest cine glass available, giving very shallow depth of field and workable exposure in low light, and the lens closes to T22. It uses a PL-Mount with manual focus. The focus barrel is available in either imperial or metric markings.

Key Features

Telephoto Super 35 mm Coverage

The lens covers Super 35 mm sensors, projecting a 33 mm image circle. A telephoto field of view compresses distance and lifts a subject off its background, suiting clean singles and action reached from further back.

T1.4 Maximum Aperture

T1.4 puts this among the fastest cine glass available. Depth of field wide open is measured in inches at close range, which demands an experienced focus puller and rewards one with separation no slower lens produces. It closes to T22.

Imperial or Metric Focus Scale

The lens ships with either an imperial or a metric focus barrel. The scale is fixed at purchase rather than switchable, so a rental order or a set build has to specify which one is needed.

Mount & Rig Integration

PL-Mount

The lens mounts via PL-Mount, fitting industry-standard cinema cameras and adapting to most modern cinema and hybrid bodies. It operates fully manually and passes no metadata to the camera.

0.8-Pitch Cine Gears

The lens carries 0.8-pitch cine gears, the standard pitch for follow focus units and lens motors. Compatibility with lens control systems lets a solo operator make consistent, repeatable focus pulls, or a camera assistant control the lens remotely.

95mm Front Diameter

The front element measures 95mm, which fits a compact matte box directly and steps up to a 114 mm clamp with an adapter ring. Matte box fit follows from this measurement rather than from the filter thread, since the clamp grips the outside of the barrel.

92mm Filter Thread

The front accepts 92mm screw-in filters behind a 95mm front element. A matte box clamps to the outside diameter instead, which is what most cine setups use to avoid re-threading filters between lenses.
