PolarPro Helix MagLock Chroma VND/PL 2-5 Stop Black Mist Filter
Overview
The PolarPro Helix MagLock Chroma VND/PL 2-5 Stop Black Mist filter combines neutral density, diffusion and a circular polarizer in one round filter. It attaches magnetically to a compatible adapter ring rather than threading onto the lens, which makes it quick to swap between shots. Density is adjustable across 2-5 Stop, the working range for daylight exposure at a fixed shutter angle. Diffusion is rated at 1/4 strength, a moderate grade, the one most often reached for on faces. Its circular polarizer helps minimize reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces without affecting autofocus or auto exposure. Additionally, the Helix MagLock Chroma VND/PL 2-5 Stop Black Mist features a 16-layer multicoating that minimizes internal ghosting and reflections.
Features
Key Features
Neutral Density Filter
A neutral density filter cuts the light reaching the sensor without shifting color, so exposure can be set by aperture and shutter rather than by light level.
Round Screw-In Format
The filter threads directly onto the front of a lens, which suits handheld and location work where a matte box would be in the way.
2-5 Stop Variable Neutral Density
Density is adjustable across 2-5 Stop, the working range for daylight exposure at a fixed shutter angle.
1/4 Diffusion
Diffusion is rated at 1/4 strength, a moderate grade, the one most often reached for on faces.
Circular Polarizer
Rotating the front ring varies how much reflected light is cut. A circular polarizer is used rather than a linear one so that autofocus and metering are unaffected.
16-Layer Multi-Coating
The glass carries a 16-layer multicoating that minimizes internal ghosting and reflections.
Magnetic Mount
The filter snaps onto a magnetic adapter ring instead of threading on, so filters can be swapped one-handed. The adapter ring is a separate purchase.
