Sigma Lens Adapters
Sigma's lens adapter lineup centers on the MC-11 and MC-21 cross-mount adapters, which allow Sigma SA-mount and Canon EF-mount lenses to be used on Sony E-mount and L-Mount camera bodies respectively. The adapters preserve autofocus, aperture control, and lens metadata for supported Sigma Global Vision lenses—meaning Art, Contemporary, and Sports series lenses will function with native AF performance when paired with the appropriate adapter, while many third-party EF lenses will work with reduced AF capability.
The adapter strategy reflects Sigma's role in supporting the transition from DSLR to mirrorless systems. As photographers and cinematographers moved away from EF and SA mounts toward Sony E and L-Mount mirrorless bodies, the MC-11 and MC-21 provided a path to keep existing Sigma glass usable rather than forcing wholesale lens replacement. The adapters are designed in conjunction with Sigma's lens firmware, allowing field updates to improve compatibility over time. Compared to third-party adapter brands like Metabones, Sigma's MC series prioritizes consistency with its own lens ecosystem rather than aiming for universal Canon EF compatibility.
