Firmware
Fixes an issue where recording in DCI 4K at 24fps while shooting at 48fps Slow & Quick Motion resulted in normal-speed 24fps recording instead of the intended slow-motion rate (when APS-C S35 Shooting was Off or a full-frame lens was set to Auto), and fixes an issue where the camera could power off despite sufficient battery charge when a mount adapter was attached; the only earlier release is Ver.1.00, the camera's original launch firmware. No recording format was added — Ver.1.01 restores already-specified 24p/48fps S&Q behavior and fixes an unrelated power-management bug.

Sony Digital Cinema Cameras
Sony has played a defining role in the evolution of digital cinema, bridging the gap between broadcast engineering and motion picture production. From the early days of the CineAlta line—pioneered by cameras like the F900, which helped usher in the HD era—to the modern Venice series, Sony has consistently pushed the boundaries of digital image capture. Their commitment to full-frame sensors, wide color gamuts (like S-Gamut3.cine), and robust recording codecs such as X-OCN has made Sony a leader in professional cinema workflows, trusted by filmmakers ranging from indie creators to major studios.
One of Sony’s greatest contributions lies in their sensor innovation. The company’s Exmor and later Exmor R and Exmor RS technologies have set industry benchmarks for dynamic range, low-light sensitivity, and color fidelity. These advancements not only power the Venice cinema line but also influence a broad range of mirrorless and broadcast cameras. The Venice’s dual base ISO, internal ND system, and extensive lens-mount flexibility (including E-mount and PL) demonstrate Sony’s understanding of on-set needs and cross-department collaboration between cinematography, lighting, and data management teams.
Beyond hardware, Sony’s impact is deeply tied to ecosystem thinking. Their integration of workflow tools—from RAW recording and post-production LUTs to metadata pipelines—has streamlined the connection between set and post. Whether capturing an independent feature or a large-scale television series, Sony’s digital cinema cameras have become synonymous with reliability, color science versatility, and future-ready design—cementing their place as one of the cornerstones of modern digital filmmaking.
